Shiner Beer Run
What better way to gear up for Thanksgiving than running a half marathon?! It wasn't my intention when I signed up in February for it, but it worked out conveniently. The Shiner Beer Run 5k and Half Marathon marks my second half marathon I've ran, and both in 2016! This half was considerably more difficult than the first I ran; however, it had a better after-race celebration. The half I ran in February was in and around downtown Austin and my friends and family got brunch afterward. The Shiner half was in Shiner, TX which required a night spent in town and unfortunately no brunch afterward as Shiner has very few restaurants to offer. The race started and ended at the Shiner Brewery. Sausage, beer and a brewery tour awaited all the finishers. Whether you sign-up for and complete a half marathon or buy your first pair of running shoes, I encourage everyone to commit to doing something outside of their comfort zone in the new year. I did not expect to run not only one, but two half marathons in one calendar year...but I did it! And how satisfying it feels.
