Triumph

So Holland and I made it!  Teamwork makes the dream work.  I think I enjoyed doing Whole30 this time more so than last year because I had a buddy who was there when I just had to complain about craving Via313 pizza and not being able to have it.  It became very difficult to forget about Greek yogurt as a snack option, chocolate and ice cream to satisfy our stubborn sweet tooth, and cheese to accompany our red wine or to sprinkle on our salads.

So, recap of the month:

  • It seems Holland and I missed dairy the most.  Grains were fairly easy to forgo, and honestly the added sugar once the cookies, french toast and Justin's dark chocolate peanut butter cups escaped our minds.
  • We developed a new obsession with plantain chips.  Yep.  They are so tasty.  We first discovered them at Trader Joe's when searching for somethinganything—crunchy.  TJ's roasted plantain chips has only three ingredients: plantains, sunflower oil, and salt.  Whole30-approved!

All in all, I still believe the Whole30 is a great diet to take on for any month of the year to reset your body and give yourself a boost.  You really feel refreshed and energized after the 30 days.  This program reiterates how important good food is to your body and how consuming too many processed foods can affect your well being.  Try it out!  It's only 30 days.
