Empire State of Mind

This past weekend I visited my friend Hailey in NYC with another one of our friends, Caroline.  It was my first time visiting the city and both me and Caroline's first time seeing Hailey in her new habitat.  We all previously worked and lived in Austin, Texas, but now Hailey is very much a Northerner.  The City was grand, bustling, and beautiful.  We spent sufficient time exploring the Concrete Jungle as well as areas of Brooklyn.  Throughout the trip and three-day weekend spent in the city with Hailey, Caroline and I kept revisiting the conversation of moving to a big city in the very near future.  What really is holding us back?  Being young individuals with so much life to experience still, and no husbands or families yet, we were becoming obsessed with the idea of moving to NYC or Chicago within a few years.  I think it is crucial to undergo a variety of experiences and even things outside of your comfort zone before settling down or committing to one place or profession.  It is all easier said than done of course; however, I know I have at least the time to explore possible options.  For now, Austin is where I thrive.
